About Jethro’s Fine Grub

The Story Behind the Fork

It started, as most good things do, with a meal I could not stop thinking about. A tiny place off the beaten path — no sign out front worth mentioning, plastic chairs, a menu scrawled on a whiteboard — and the most extraordinary bowl of slow-braised short rib I had ever tasted. That night, sitting in my car afterward, I wrote up every detail I could remember. The char on the peppers. The way the broth had this quiet, smoky depth that snuck up on you. The fact that dessert was a single perfect scoop of coconut sorbet and it was exactly right.

That write-up was never meant for anyone else. But I kept doing it — scribbling notes after dinners, cataloguing the little details that separate a good meal from one that stays with you. Friends started asking for recommendations, and the recommendations kept getting longer and more specific. Eventually someone said, “You should really put this somewhere people can actually find it.” So here we are.

What You Will Find Here

Jethro’s Fine Grub covers the full dining spectrum because great food does not respect price brackets. One week I might be writing about a tasting menu where the amuse-bouche alone tells you the chef has something to say. The next, I am genuinely excited about a breakfast taco from a gas station parking lot that has no business being as good as it is. Street food, neighborhood spots, fine dining, the diner that has been on the same corner since before you were born — if the food is worth talking about, it belongs here.

Every review on this site comes from my own dining experiences and my own wallet. I do not accept comped meals or paid placements. The opinions are mine, the enthusiasm is real, and when something disappoints, I will tell you that too. This is not a brand or a media company — it is one person who genuinely believes that paying attention to what you eat, and where, and why it matters, makes life a little richer.

Pull up a chair. Let us find your next great meal.
